On November 20, the Zhytomyr Regional Office for International Cooperation hosted a presentation of the
Polaris Community Support Project “Support to Multi-level Governance in Ukraine” funded by the Swedish government through the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (
Sida – Styrelsen för Internationellt Utvecklingssamarbete) and implemented by SALAR International.
The project runs until 2028 and provides support to communities in the following areas:
Improving governance in the field of education;
Supporting communities in the provision of administrative services, support for ASCs;
Strengthening the capacity of starostas and the institution of starostas for effective local governance;
Advising and methodological support on financial decentralization and budgeting:
Promoting international cooperation of communities.
Additionally, consultations for local governments and crisis support will be provided:
Inter-municipal cooperation and multi-level governance;
Community recovery:
Legislative, budgetary and other issues related to local governance.
Local governments can already apply for participation in the project in a particular area on the project website.
